You maybe thinking about selling your home in the coming months, but like many homeowners, you are worried about marketing during winter. At this time of year we are often discussing the pros and cons of selling now, rather than waiting till spring.
The truth is that buyers are looking to buy all year round. If they are cashed up and need to find a new home, they are not waiting till spring to look, they are out there now. It is already noticeable that the number of houses coming onto the market is starting to drop off. Some owners that didn’t sell over the summer months are removing their properties from the market with the intention of remarketing in the spring. Others are waiting until the worst of the winter weather is behind us, to start marketing.
In our opinion, winter can be an excellent time to sell. The shortage of listings means there is less competition, and there are a number of purchasers out there who want to buy today. Interest rates have continued to track downwards and banks are competing with their rates in an effort to attract borrowers.
Don’t be concerned about the cold dreary days affecting your home’s appeal; there is nothing more inviting than entering a warm home, with the smell of winter food cooking. Yes, your garden will not look at its glorious best, but I don’t think we have ever had a purchaser buy a house for the flowers in the garden or the quality of the lawn.
If you do sell your home over winter, then your timing is just perfect for looking to buy in the spring, when there is a feast of listings. Start thinking about selling today!
