You may believe a hotel room is simply a place to lay your head for the night but at times a room with a view truly enhances your holiday. Of course, like real estate the view most often comes with the higher price tag but it's a sound investment as can most definitely end up being an important part of your travel experience.
In my experience the following views are well worth paying for..
Honolulu:
Waikiki beach is one of the world's most beautiful beaches and there's no better way to enjoy her charms than staying at a beachfront hotel. Imagine a blazing Waikiki sunset while sipping cocktails on your private balcony before dinner. A full ocean view room is ideal but if beyond your budget a partial sweeping view as far as Diamond Head is better than staring out your window at a parking lot or shopping mall.
New York:
Think of choosing your highrise hotel room based on the views of your favourite New York icons. If you love the seasonal colours of Central Park then stay at a plush hotel that has a park view or if you prefer the bright lights then book a room near Times Square and marvel at the hustle and bustle way below.
Athens:
A hectic city known for it's ancient ruins with the Acropolis undoubtedly the jewel in the crown. Ensure you choose a hotel nearby and your window or balcony faces this architectural wonder high on a rocky hill. Although magnificent in daytime it's magically lit up at night..what a treasure!
Anne's tip:
Whether staying in a National Park, near rivers, lakes or city canals there are so many superb vistas worth enjoying from your hotel room. Avoid missing out by booking way in advance as the best views often sell out first.
