Just days before he drops his brand new duet with Britney Spears, Sir Elton John couldn't resist giving his French fans a taste of the song ...
The 75-year-old music legend took to the DJ booth at the La Guérite restaurant in Cannes to delight beach-goers with an impromptu sing-along of 'Hold Me Closer' during his holiday today.
Speaking into the microphone, the Rocket Man told the surprised audience "'Hold Me Closer.' Britney Spears. Elton John. Here we go!" before he belted out the song.
The single is a dance remix of his iconic 1971 hit 'Tiny Dancer.'
The single will drop on August 26 and will mark Spears' return to music and her first release since 2016, following the end of her 13-year-long conservatorship in November 2021.
Elton has seen big success this year with re-recorded duets of his past hits. He and Dua Lipa scored a hit with 'Cold, Cold Heart,' a mashup of his hits 'Rocket Man' and 'Sacrifice.'
'Tiny Dancer' was written by John and Bernie Taupin. It was originally released on John's 1971 album, Madman Across the Water, and then as a single in 1972.
It was ranked at number 47 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2021.
