Meghan Markle has survived her first fumble in the royal spotlight, laughing off a mix-up with notes at the Endeavour Fund Awards ceremony.

Presenting an award with another man, Prince Harry's bride to be announced she would deliver the prize to a person who achieved excellence "in their chosen sport or adventurous challenge".

But all went awry when her co-presenter started frantically leafing through pages before admitting "We've got different notes."

The unflappable Markle smiled at the crowd before taking charge and finding the right spot, reports News.com.au.

"Who did the notes eh?" the man joked while she pointed out where he should be reading from on the page.

The royal lovebirds were presenting awards at a ceremony to celebrate and honour the achievements of wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.

Markle, wearing a black Alexander McQueen trouser suit and white Tuxe blouse, presented the second award of the second annual Endeavour Fund Awards. "I'm truly privileged to be here," she said to the crowd.

Top honours went to late explorer Henry Worsley, who died in January 2016, 50 kilometres from completing a solo crossing of the Antarctic to raise money for the fund.

Harry joined Worsley's children on stage to present the award. "I am fortunate enough to meet many of those who take part in the endeavours that we support and I am continually amazed by the tenacity, fortitude and unshakeable humour displayed by the men and women who sign up to run races, cross oceans, climb mountains or take on challenges few would even contemplate," the prince said.
