After over 50 years entertaining the masses with his hilarious comedy, Mel Brooks has recieved the annual BAFTA fellowship award.
He was presented the award by none other than The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William himself.
The idea of the award is to recognise one's "outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, television or games."
Upon recieving the award, Brooks said "I am not overwhelmed, but I am definitely whelmed by this singular honour."
"To be included among such iconic talents is absolutely humbling. In choosing me for the 2017 Fellowship I think that Bafta has made a strangely surprising yet ultimately wise decision."
He is now joined the ranks of the EGOTs, individuals who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award, there's only about a dozen or so of them in the world.
The chief executive of the Baftas, Amanda Berry commented on the event, “Mel Brooks is a truly unique and multi-talented filmmaker. We are absolutely thrilled to award him the Fellowship, the highest honour of the evening, at this year’s EE British Academy Film Awards.”
