There has been an overwhelming response after vile trolls posted hateful comments about Princess Charlotte's birthday portrait.
The new image of the young royal was taken by the Duchess of Cambridge to mark her daughter's second birthday.
In the picture, Charlotte can be seen with glossy dark hair and wearing a floral blouse.
But hateful commenters left nasty messages about the photo on social media.
One Twitter user said: 'Prince George is one ugly child and princess charlotte is even uglier.'
Another added: 'Just me that thinks princess Charlotte is kind of ugly?'
One commenter said: 'Princess Charlotte, with her middle aged blow dry and her inherited privilege.'
Another person wrote: 'Princess Charlotte has a comb over, she must be bald like her father.'
There was a swift reaction from shocked readers who were outraged at the mean comments.
On Facebook, commenter Sharon Harvey wrote: 'I think Princess Charlotte and Prince George are absolutely adorable. Some people are so nasty, if you don't like the royals just do one and stay quiet.
'They are just children - I've seen the same over prince George too. I hope you're all proud of yourselves - it's no wonder kids are the way they are when they learn this kind of behaviour from people who call themselves adults.
'Happy Birthday Charlotte you look gorgeous.'
Neil Beesley agreed: 'Yes, they are lovely photos of a bonny wee lass and to all of the effing internet trolls out there: Bite me!'
Sally Wilson added: 'This little girl is so beautiful. She is a refreshing change. She loves animals and thoroughly enjoys new life experiences!
'How on earth can some people be so nasty about her, especially on her birthday! Shocking.'
Taken at Anmer Hall, their family home in Norfolk, Charlotte can be seen beaming at her mother as photography enthusiast Kate snaps away.
In the photo, taken in April, Charlotte can be seen wearing a traditional Fair Isle cardigan in baby blue and yellow from John Lewis (that had sold out before the photo was released) with a slightly crumpled Peter Pan collar poking out of the top.
The new photograph was shared by Kensington Palace on Monday.
