TV3 has lost another long-time presenter

TV3 is losing another of their high profile newsreaders this year, with Michelle Pickles announcing on she will start a new job in March.

Pickles, who has been with the network as a sports presenter for 14 years, shared the news of her new job at the New Zealand Racing Board on Twitter.

She will take on the position of media personnel manager for the Racing Board, which supports all racing and betting in New Zealand.

"My 14 years at TV3 have been amazing but a new challenge awaits!" Pickles wrote on the social media site.

Speaking to Fairfax, she added: "I'm now really looking forward to the next chapter of my career with the NZRB. New Year, new job, new challenge, and from what I've seen so far, the chance to work with yet more passionate, talented people."

Pickles, who once represented New Zealand as a roller figure skater, is just the latest high profile exit from the network.

Her departure follows the likes of Hilary Barry, Paul Henry and Heather du Plessis-Allan, who all left the network under various circumstances last year. It was a trend that started when John Campbell's eponymous show was cancelled in 2015.

The channel is hoping that The Project, a new 7PM show, will help rejuvenate their current affairs line-up.

Pickles will present her last broadcast on February 17.
