TVNZ presenter engaged

It was this election that Jacinda Adern's protection officer Iain McKay had his own spot in the limelight, being labelled the 'hot bodyguard'.

The 31-year-old bodyguard popped the question to TVNZ star Jessica Mutch during a romantic night at Auckland’s exclusive Sugar Club restaurant up the Sky Tower according to Woman’s Day.

He surprised the 1 News reporter with a cake iced with the words: "Will you marry me?"

"I don't typically get very nervous," he says.

"But I was a bit of a wreck that night as there were so many people around. But when it happened, everyone else disappeared and we were in our own little bubble."

The couple has known each other for years but only started talking when Mutch was working in London as TVNZ's European correspondent.

They enjoyed their first date in Paris in 2015, congratulations to the happy couple!
