Minnie Mouse is finally getting her own star on the Hollywood walk of fame.

The polka-dot wearing mouse is receiving a star in honor of her 90th anniversary in entertainment joining long-time paramour Mickey Mouse and other beloved Disney icons like Donald Duck, Tinker Bell, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, and Kermit the Frog.

She received her star today at 6834 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Disney’s El Capitan Theatre, dedicated in the category of Motion Pictures. Disney CEO Bob Iger and pop star Katy Perry will be on hand for the unveiling and to celebrate Minnie's special day.

“Minnie Mouse is a woman of the ages and her iconic status makes her a great addition to our Walk of Fame!” stated Ana Martinez, Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies. “Generations of fans of all ages have been looking forward to her seeing her bright new star.”

WALK OF FAME FACTS:

Minnie be the Walk of Fame's 2,627th star and was first introduced to the world of Disney 90 years ago before becoming one of Ameria's most indelible sweethearts. Mickey received his star in 1978 in celebration of his 50th anniversary.

Anyone can nominate a celebrity for a star, but the star must agree. There is a nomination process involved along with a lot of paperwork to apply including a letter of agreement from the star.

It also doesn't come cheap. Every nomination must also have someone willing to cough up the $40,000 it costs to create, install and maintain the star made of terrazzo and brass. is made of terrazzo and brass. 

Some stars have multiple stars. Bob Hope, Roy Rogers, Mickey Rooney, and Tony Martin each have stars in four categories. More than 30 people have stars in three categories, including Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Jack Benny.

Four stars have been stolen. Gregory Peck was the most recent in 2005 and although it was replaced it has never been recovered. Five years before this Jimmy Stewart and Kirk Douglas had their stars stolen and recovered with the first being Gene Autry's (although he had other stars).
