Prince William could walk Meghan Markle down the aisle during her wedding to Prince Harry.

The former Suits actress has reportedly decided against inviting her half-brother and her dad to St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19, and royal officials are opposed to a woman taking on the role, meaning the future King could be asked to perform the traditional duty.

A source explained: "Meghan said that she would prefer to have her mum with her as she is much closer to her than her dad.

"She's also worried about how he would handle it as he's become even more of a recluse.

"Not to mention the fact that there has been some bad blood between Harry and Thomas after Harry made comments about her finally getting the family she never had."

Although the Royals are sympathetic to Meghan's situation, they are reluctant to break with tradition.

The insider told the Star on Sunday newspaper: "The royals understand why Meghan might prefer to have her mother, but it's not exactly traditional to have a woman walk a bride down the aisle.

"Some of the Royals aren't happy about the idea, so they suggested that William do it. He is a natural choice.

"It would be a little unorthodox, but this is Prince Harry and he's certainly not shy about shaking things up."

The report comes shortly after an insider claimed that Meghan has turned to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall to ease her pre-wedding nerves.

The American star recently had lunch with Camilla at Clarence House at the request of the Duchess, who has been eager to help the brunette beauty come to terms with the demands of becoming royalty.

Both women are divorcees and Meghan reportedly admires the Duchess for the way in which she's managed to change the public's perception of her over the years.
