Hugh Jackman gets slammed after making a "mistake" in hand-washing tutorial video

As concern over coronavirus reaches fever pitch, members of the public have been urged to wash their hands regularly and thoroughly.

The advice from health authorities is to wash your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds, roughly the same amount of time it takes to sing "Happy Birthday" twice.

In an attempt to encourage his fans to take their personal hygiene seriously amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Hugh Jackman took to social media to share a video of himself scrubbing down his hands while dancing to Doja Cat's 'Say So' over the weekend.

However, the Australian actor didn't quite get the response he was hoping for.

Fans took to the comment section of the post to slam the Greatest Showman star after he failed to shut off his faucet for the duration of the 35-second PSA, which led to him "wasting water."

Following the apparent backlash, Jackman quickly deleted the video and released another more eco-friendly clip in which he apologised for his lapse in judgment.

"Thank you, everyone, for picking me up on my mistake yesterday, which was to wash my hands and leave the water running the whole time," the X-Men actor admitted in the clip.

"That was not good, I wasn’t thinking."

Jackman then demonstrated a proper hand-washing technique again, with one added piece of advice.

"Wash your hands. But don't keep the tap running."
