Right from his birth in 1963, John Lennon's son Julian Lennon always looked to Paul McCartney as a father figure.
And, understandably, the 59-year-old grew even closer to "Uncle Paul" following his dad's tragic murder in 1980.
So it was a happy surprise for musician Julian, when he ran into his father's former bandmate at an airport by sheer luck.
Taking to Twitter, Julian revealed the chance encounter by sharing a black-and-white selfie he took with the 80-year-old.
"It's amazing who you run into in an airport Lounge!" he tweeted.
"None other than Uncle Paul…. So, so lovely, and what are the chances… Thankful…."
In a second shot, Macca can be seen holding up a cellphone and pointing to it as it displays Julian’s most recent album, Jude, which was released in September.
On the evening of 8 December 1980, John was shot and fatally wounded in the archway of the Dakota, his residence in New York City.
Julian, whose mother was Lennon's first wife Cynthia, was 17 years old at the time.
