Joni Mitchell makes emotional return to the stage at pre-Grammys 'Person Of The Year' tribute

Just a few years ago, Joni Mitchell couldn't walk or talk following a brain aneurysm that damaged her motor skills.

But on Friday night, much to the delight of her fans, the 78-year-old joyfully sang along to 'Big Yellow Taxi live on stage at the MGM Grand Marquee Ballroom in Las Vegas.

Being honoured as the Person of the Year at the 2022 MusiCares pre-Grammys event, the Canadian singer-songwriter was joined by Brandi Carlile and several other performers for the emotional singalong.

"That was such an exciting musical evening for me," Joni said while accepting the award. "To hear my music performed so well by everybody who was on stage."

MusiCares is the foundation of the Recording Academy, which runs the Grammy Awards, and provides health and human service aid to the music community.

Past honorees of this award include Aerosmith, Dolly Parton, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Lionel Richie, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand and Neil Young.
