Kate Middleton and Prince William dazzle in first official joint portrait together to celebrate 10 years as Duke and Duchess

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have posed for their first official joint portrait and they made sure to incorporate tributes to Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana.

The painting, described by the artists as "relaxed and approachable" and "elegant and dignified," was commissioned to celebrate the couple's 10th wedding anniversary.

Released to the public for the first time on Thursday at the University of Cambridge’s Fitzwilliam Museum, the royal couple can be seen in glamorous formal wear standing together, with their arms around each other, looking off into the distance.

The Duchess of Cambridge chose her emerald green shimmering Falconetti dress by The Vampire’s Wife, a style that she first wore for a visit to Ireland in 2020.

But it was the 40-year-old's choice of accessories that really stood out in the poignant portrait.

Paying tribute to the Queen, the Duchess wore Her Majesty's Duchess of Cambridge pearl pendant brooch for the first time.

The family brooch features a large centre pearl surrounded by a cluster of diamonds with another smaller pearl hanging as a pendant.

She also honoured her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, in the painting too, opting to wear Diana's Collingwood pearl and diamond earrings, a gift from jewellers Collingwood to the late People's Princess on her wedding day.

The portrait will be on display at the University of Cambridge’s Fitzwilliam Museum for three years, after which it will be taken on a tour of community spaces and galleries in Cambridgeshire.
