Kelly Clarkson performs mesmerising duet of 'Breakaway' with Sam Smith

Kelly Clarkson and Sam Smith are spreading their wings and learning how to fly!

Kicking off Tuesday's episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the American Idol winner belted out a mesmerising rendition of her hit song 'Breakaway', with the help of the British singer-songwriter.

For the duet, the duo harmonised side-by-side, showing off their impressive vocal chops.

Co-written by Avril Lavigne and originally intended for her debut album Let Go, Clarkson released the song in July 2004 on the soundtrack for The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.

After reaching number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching the upper tiers of several other countries charts, the song was also included on the American Idol alum's homonymously titled debut album Breakaway.
