Just one hour after winning New Zealand's 12th medal of the Tokyo Olympics, canoeist Lisa Carrington has also won our 14th medal after claiming gold in the women's K-2 500m with partner Caitlin Regal this afternoon.
Adding another gold medal to her collection, Carrington and Regal flew across the water claiming victory in 1.35.785 seconds.Â
Poland's Karolina Naja and Anna Puławska won silver at 1.36.753, while Hungary's Danuta Kozak and Dora Bodonyi came in third at 1.36.867.
Carrington is now officially New Zealand's most productive women's Olympian with five medals, joining Ian Ferguson.
The 32-year-old won gold in the K-1 200m in London (2012), Rio de Janeiro (2016) and Tokyo (2021), and bronze in the K-1 500m in Rio (2016).
