Lisa Carrington is finally home after spending two weeks in quarantine - and one family member couldn't contain his excitement.
Taking to social media, the gold medalist shared a heartwarming video of the emotional moment she was reunited with her fur baby, Colin, at her family home for the first time in over a month.
In the sweet clip, the cavoodle puppy can be seen running towards his mum as she sits on a couch in the Auckland home she shares with fiancé, Michael Buck.
Colin, who is golden, came into the couple's life during the coronavirus pandemic last year, in what was a challenging time for the superstar paddler.
During the games, Buck revealed that when his 32-year-old fiancé would phone, the opening topic wasn't her races, medal victories or how she's feeling.
"Yes, Colin is the most important thing. She just asks: 'Can you send me a pic of him?'" Buck admitted. "He certainly helped her last year with everything going on."
Calling Colin a blessing, Buck added:Â "It's nice when there's something there that doesn't care about anything apart from loving you."
Carrington became New Zealand's most decorated Olympian three weeks ago, winning the sixth Olympic medal of her career at the Tokyo Games.
The kayaker won gold in the K-1 200m in London (2012), Rio de Janeiro (2016) and Tokyo (2021), gold in the K-2 500m in Tokyo (2021), gold in the K-1 500m in Tokyo (2021) and bronze in the K-1 500m in Rio (2016).
