Michael J. Fox recreates iconic Back to the Future performance with Sting at Parkinson's fundraiser

Much to the delight of fans, Michael J. Fox channelled Marty McFly as he rocked out on stage with Sting on Saturday at his A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson's gala in New York City.

The 60-year-old actor - whose character famously played Chuck Berry's 1958 hit song 'Johnny B Goode' in the finale of iconic 1985 film Back To The Future - was in his element as he rocked out on stage with the music legend.

Jamming out with guitars at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall, the performance echoed Fox's unforgettable rock 'n' roll scene in the time travel movie, which saw Marty wow as he performed an ahead-of-its-time rendition to the 1955 high school students of Hill Valley.

Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1991 but didn't go public with the news until 1998.

The fundraiser marked the 20th-anniversary celebration of his foundation, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Fox launched the foundation in the hopes of raising funds to help find treatments and a cure for Parkinson's and has raised more than $1 billion over the past two decades.

In a recent interview, Fox revealed that he's "in a really good groove" physically these days, but "every day is different."
