Mick Jagger may be giving the Rolling Stones back catalogue to charity rather than his kids

Mick Jagger has just shared that he is considering giving his share of The Rolling Stones back catalogue to charity instead of to his eight kids.

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, when asked if he would consider selling his share of The Rolling Stones post-1971 back catalogue he replied that he currently doesn’t have any plans to sell his music,  but he doesn’t want to leave it to his children “who don’t need it.”

“The children don’t need $500m to live well. Come on!”

Explaining that he’d rather give it to charity, he added: “You maybe do some good in the world.”

Mick Jagger has eight children. His eldest Karis is 52 and his youngest Deveraux is 6.

A number of musicians have sold their rights to their back catalogue in recent years including Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham, Steve Nicks and Mick Fleetwood, Mötley Crüe, Heart’s Nancy Wilson, Sting, Def Leppard and the estate of David Bowie.
