Netflix's swoon-worthy series Bridgerton has officially been renewed for a third and fourth season

Ever since Netflix's swoon-worthy series Bridgerton hit our screens, it's all anyone could talk about!

The only disappointing thing about having finished the first season is the fact that there are no more episodes left to binge on.

Understandably, fans are eager for a follow-up season to explore more of the high-society scandals centred around the Bridgerton family.

And now the incredibly popular Netflix series - adapted from Julia Quinn's Bridgerton novels - has also officially been renewed for a third and fourth season.

Lady Whistledown, voiced by Julie Andrews in the show, announced the news in her Society Paper.

"Esteemed members of the ton," the note began. "It seems we have a rather special announcement.

"Bridgerton shall return for seasons three and four," Whistledown declared.

"This author shall have to purchase more ink..."

The first season followed Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) on her quest for love with the Duke of Hastings (Rege-Jean Page) during the Regency era.

However, the second series is set to explore Anthony Bridgerton's pursuit of a suitable marriage, which will be based on the book The Viscount Who Loved Me.

The upcoming series won't see the return of Page but Dynevor will appear in the second season - although it is not yet known how much screen time she will have.

Filming for the second season will commence in the "Spring of 2021" (Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere).

Netflix has not confirmed a release date yet.
