Princess Kate and Prince William have frequently been acknowledged for their down-to-earth and nurturing approach to parenting their three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
In a video shared by Sky News posted in May, Kate compared her parenting style to her husband’s, and according to the royal, they have different strengths.
At a Buckingham Palace garden party in May, shortly after King Charles and Queen Camilla's coronation, Kate met Aldith Grandison and her daughter, Jay Cee La Bouche, and the three women got to talking.
“I’m terrible at jokes,” Kate admitted before adding that William was “very good” in comparison.
Grandison then guessed how Kate parents her children. “You’re the strict one,” Grandison speculated.
Kate replied with a laugh, “I’m definitely not strict! How can you tell that? Surely not!”

Despite the kids royal responsibilities, Kate and William have tried to give them as normal an upbringing as possible while also introducing their kids to their royal roles.
A palace insider recently told PEOPLE “Those children look pretty happy with life... A lot of it is the stabilizing normality Kate brings — and that's how she grew up. William absolutely loves it."
Another source also commented, "Coming from a different background, she appreciates the importance of having family time. She wasn't brought up in that aristocratic setting where you see the children for a short time each day."
Both Kate and William take joy in getting involved with everyday activities alongside their children, whether it's cooking, baking, or playing outside. They also regularly drive their kids to school and make sure at least one of them is home for their return whenever possible.
In a chat on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast in 2020 Kate said that she is happiest when "I'm with my family outside in the countryside, and we're all filthy dirty."
Unlike past generations of royals who relied heavily on nannies, Kate and William seem committed to spending as much time as possible with their children.
Ingrid Seward, a royal biographer, said that in the past, Prince Charles and Princess Anne were only able to meet their mother, the Queen, during two appointed "meetings" each day.
