Queen’s Sir Brian May joined Benson Boone's Coachella set to perform Bohemian Rhapsody.

The 22-year-old star was joined on stage opening night of this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, for a captivating performance of the song featuring a full choir and theatrical lights.

Sir Brian May, 77, also shared the stage with Benson for a performance of Beautiful Things, just hours after teasing his performance at the event.

Sir Brian posted pictures on Instagram of them travelling to Coachella together and wrote: "Look who I bumped into – on the way to the fabled Palm Springs … Maybe something will happen ?!

"Do we look happy ? !!! Gonna treasure this moment on the plane with @bensonboone – a truly golden 22 year old prodigy. I’m proud and happy to say we are now officially pals."

Benson also used his time on stage to announce the release of his upcoming second album American Heart.

According to Variety, he told the audience: "I’ve got one more announcement to make. This is less like one song and more like 10. My second album will be coming out June 20, 2025 and it is called American Heart.”

He then went on to perform the title track.

Benson previously told Rolling Stone about the album: "A lot of it is very Bruce Springsteen, Americana, like a little more of a retro vibe. It all started with me believing in the song Beautiful Things. Now, I have a whole album just about ready to go — and I’ve never believed so much in a body of work."

FKA Twigs and Missy Elliot were among the other performers at Friday's show, with Lady Gaga headlining.
