Sir Rod Stewart, who just wrapped his tour in Australia, was spotted at a Bunnings in Sydney’s Northern Beaches looking for a sausage sizzle fix, only to learn the famed snags are only available on weekends.
“Rod Stewart spotted at Bunnings in Balgowlah feeling somewhat disappointed to hear that they only do snags in bread on the w/e,” one Sydney Twitter user tweeted on Monday, alongside a photo of the 78-year-old posing with three staff members.
While Stewart didn’t come away with Bunnings’ famous snags, he did buy gaffer tape, according to the Twitter user.
Just last week, the Sailing singer was also photographed at a Bunnings store in Melbourne, where he was buying parts for his model railway.
When quizzed about the outing during an interview, the train lover admitted he enjoys browsing through the warehouse.
“I love Bunnings,” Stewart said, while confirming he bought two pieces of wood to attach to his railway.
“I found this particular angled wood that you can’t get in England so I’m trying to get it to England, but we haven’t found our way to do it yet.”
The sighting comes after Stewart’s performance in Sydney last week alongside musical guests Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens.
While Sydney fans were lucky, the singer disappointed his fans in Geelong in March when he cancelled a show due to health reasons.
“Late this morning I was advised that I have a viral infection and my throat is too irritated to sing,” Stewart said in a tweet on March 18.
“I’m only human and sometimes (I) get sick just like you do. My greatest joy is performing for you, so I’m doing everything I can to get on the mend and back on stage.”
He wrote that he was “absolutely downhearted” to be “disappointing” his fans.
However, the performance at A Day On The Green was rescheduled and played on March 31.
Sir Rod Stewart will be performing on our shores this week, kicking off tonight in Dunedin.
