Rod Stewart's son Sean surprises his family with "spur of the moment" wedding in Las Vegas

Congratulations are in order for Sir Rod Stewart's eldest son!

After proposing to his girlfriend, Jody Weintraub, on Valentine's Day, Sean Stewart tied the knot with her in a "spur of the moment" wedding in Las Vegas.

The 42-year-old surprised his family by heading straight to the courthouse the same night he proposed while on holiday at the famous Nevada city last week.

The exciting news was shared on social media by Sean's mum and Rod's ex-wife Alana Stewart.

Alana said the family were all taken by surprise by the news that the pair had got hitched.

Alongside photos of the family celebrating yesterday at the California restaurant Nobu Malibu, the proud mum wrote: "Congratulations to my boy @seanstewart and his beautiful bride @jody_weintraubstewart who surprised us all with a spur of the moment Las Vegas wedding.

"I’m so happy for you both!"

Sean has known Jody, daughter of the legendary late Ocean's Eleven producer Jerry Weintraub, since high school.

A source close to the couple revealed: "Sean asked her while they were out to dinner at Catch. They married shortly after getting their marriage license at 10 p.m. at Little Church of the West."

For the casual ceremony, Sean wore jeans and a YSL sweater, while the bride rocked a black, cashmere jumpsuit.

Jody is a proud mum to her five-year-old son Doc, making Sean a stepfather.
