'Sound Of Music' child stars reunite with Julie Andrews 57 years after the film was released

Dame Julie Andrews reunited with a few of her favourite things this weekend as she was honoured with the 48th American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award at a ceremony in Los Angeles.

The legendary actress and the five surviving von Trapp children from the 1965 classic movie, The Sound Of Music, joined her at the gala.

With Julie were Duane Chase, 71, who played Kurt von Trapp; Nicholas Hammond, 72, who was Friedrich; Kym Karath, 63, the youngest von Trapp, Gretl; Angela Cartwright, 69, who starred as Brigitta, and Debbie Turner, 65, who was Marta.

Charmian Carr, who played Liesl von Trapp, died in 2016 aged 73, while Heather Menzies, who played Louisa, passed away aged 68 in 2017.

Movie veteran Christopher Plummer, who played Captain Georg von Trapp, died aged 91 in February 2021.

The 86-year-old British actress' former co-stars seemed to be having the best time reuniting 57 years after the film came out.

The Sound of Music, based on the 1959 stage musical of the same name, won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Julie was nominated for Best Actress but she lost to Julie Christie for Darling.

For five years after its release, The Sound of Music was the highest-grossing film of all time.
