Late strike earns Phoenix draw

A late Jason Hicks strike has secured the Wellington Phoenix a 2-2 draw with the Newcastle Jets in their A-League match at the Hutt Recreation Ground.

Newcastle led 2-2 at halftime after dominating the first half, with both goals coming through corners.

The Phoenix brought more determination to attack in the second half, and got on the board in the 68th minute through Roy Krishna.

After several strong attempts at finding the net, Jason Hicks remarkably powered a free kick straight above Newcastle's goalkeeper in injury time to lock in the draw.

The Phoenix's winless streak however has now stretched to four matches.
