Disney+ have just released the first trailer for Elton John's upcoming documentary Elton John: Never Too Late which is releasing later this year on December 13.

The trailer highlights Elton's incredible success in the '70s, with a string of number-one albums and singles.

However, it also reveals the dark side of fame, as Elton opens up about the emptiness he felt during that time, opening up about his addiction and struggles with accepting his sexuality.

"I didn't have anything apart from my success and my drugs," he added. "I took a bunch of tablets, I thought I was gonna drown. I felt there must be something more to my life than this."

The trailer then shows how Elton realised family was the most important thing in the world and that he eventually found happiness with his husband, David and their two sons, Zachary and Elijah.

"I was desperately wanting happiness and going the completely wrong way about it," he said. "It made me realize family was more important than anything."
