Elton John may have bid farewell to the stage, but we'll still be able to spot him on our screens in the brand-new documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late.

The documentary is co-directed by Elton's husband, David Furnish, and R.J. Cutler - who previously released the 2021 documentary Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry and Belushi, centred around the late Saturday Night Live comedian John Belushi.

Originally titled Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances and the Years That Made His Legend, Elton John: Never Too Late will show “never-before-seen concert footage of him over the past 50 years, as well as hand-written journals and present-day footage of him and his family.”

This morning, Elton took to social media to share the first key art for the documentary, as well as the release date - December 13th on Disney+.

"It’s here! Very excited to share the first look at the key art for Elton John: Never Too Late!"
"This documentary is such a special journey through the memories, music, and moments that have shaped my life. Mark your calendars for 13 December when it lands on Disney+"

A report from Deadline back in May 2022 added that the documentary will focus on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, documenting his final shows in the U.S., “culminating in his November performance at Dodger Stadium in his final North American show.”

Elton's farewell shows not only closed his touring career, but the tour became the first in history to cross the $900 million mark, making it the highest-grossing tour in history by the time it wrapped in July 2023.
