Timothée Chalamet has shown off his vocals in the official trailer for the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown.

In the new trailer we get to hear Timothée singing both Girl from the North Country and Like a Rolling Stone – highlighting the switch from acoustic to electric music which is a big focus of the movie.

The trailer also shows other key moments from Bob Dylan's career, including his move from Minnesota to New York, his early relationship with Suze Rotolo (renamed Sylvie Russo in the film, played by Elle Fanning), his partnership with fellow folk singer Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro), and the pivotal moment at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival where Dylan famously shocked the folk community by going electric.

According to the BBC, James received Bob Dylan's blessing to make the film, and the music legend is on board as executive producer.

James said he was intrigued by “This idea of a talent like Bob, so vexing, so provocative, so filled with fiction and fact.

“This idea of this incredible, artistic character landing in New York with $12 in his pocket - trying to thread the needle of how one goes from there to there is so interesting to me.”

A Complete Unknown is set to be released on January 23, 2025.
