Tom Hanks surprises bride as he crashes her pre-wedding photo shoot

Tom Hanks has long been considered one of the world’s most-loved actors, so it should come as no surprise that he continues to live up to the reputation.

Earlier this week, the Sully star crashed a wedding photoshoot at the Fairmont Pittsburgh Hotel, pausing to congratulate the bride-to-be.

The bride, Grace Gwaltney, revealed she was shocked to see the 65-year-old Oscar winner, who joined the bridal party for photos as they were getting ready to leave for the ceremony.

"He was like, 'Hey! I'm Tom Hanks. I would love to get a photo with you' and I immediately froze and was just looking around," she said following the encounter. "I didn't know what to do."

Gwaltney was certain she was meeting Hanks because of his recognisable voice, adding: "You see him and then he starts speaking and he was like, 'You look so beautiful. I'm so happy for you.'"

The wedding photographer Rachel Rowland said the group "lost it" when they saw it was Hanks.

"So we were all walking from the hotel to the limo, and out of nowhere, he pops up and just says, 'My name is Tom Hanks! Can I take a photo with the bride?'

"We all started screaming and were pretty much in shock ... He was just as wonderful and charming as you’d assume."

The actor was in town to film the upcoming movie, A Man Called Otto.
