Greg Perano has been a fan of The Beatles since he was 11 years old and climbed to the top of a Picton with the hopes to hear The Beatles play live.
"We figured if we went up and the wind was blowing right, we might be able to hear some of the concerts," Perano said.
"So about 12 of us went out, like girls and boys ... and one minute, we thought we could hear the Beatles, but it was being played down in the town.
"Of course we couldn't hear them, but it was just that we knew that they were 100 kilometres away doing our show."
60 years later and chance brought Greg even closer to The Beatles when he bought an $11 role of eight-millimetre film at a Sydney flea market. Thinking it could have interesting footage but never predicting it would be his childhood idols in concert at Sydney Stadium in 1964.
The film had no sound, but Greg was still over the moon with his lucky find at the markets saying "To watch it, it was just magic, absolute magic, to see that band and it being a band you loved"
"I think I was supposed to be the person to discover it. It was an incredible moment to see that it was really the Beatles."
