'We Are the World' footage shows the music legends singing 'Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)'

40 years ago, a dream team of pop stars shined a light on famine in Africa with the charity single 'We Are The World.'

And now rare behind-the-scenes footage is going viral again, showing the incredible musicians paying tribute to Harry Belafonte.

Belting out a joyous a cappella cover of his iconic hit 'Day-O (The Banana Boat Song),' every one of them sounds pitch-perfect.

Written by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson and produced by Quincy Jones, 'We Are The World' was recorded after the American Music Awards in Los Angeles on January 28, 1985, at Hollywood's A&M Recording Studios.

Featuring on the song are Dan Aykroyd, Harry Belafonte, Lindsey Buckingham, Kim Carnes, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Sheila E., Bob Geldof, Daryl Hall, Waylon Jennings, Billy Joel, Cyndi Lauper, Huey Lewis and the News, Kenny Loggins, Bette Midler, Willie Nelson, John Oates, Steve Perry, The Pointer Sisters, Smokey Robinson, Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick, and Stevie Wonder, to name a few.

The single sold more than seven million records worldwide and has generated $60 million since its release.
