Craft Editor of NZ Woman's Weekly, Alice Arndell, reckons you’ll feel like an Egyptian princess (or a prince, if you're that way inclined!)  when you bathe with these bath salts. If they’re packaged in mini milk bottles and finished with pretty ribbon, they also make a beautiful and thrifty gift.

What you need:

4 cups Epsom salts

2 cups milk powder

Pink food colouring

Rose essential oil

Dried rose petals or rosebuds

Mini milk bottles (or jars) with lids

Ribbon and labels

Instructions:

Put the Epsom salts and milk powder in a large bowl. Stir well, then add a few drops of food colouring.

Work the colouring into the salts with your hands – it may take a wee while to get an even colour, so keep at it!

Add a few drops of rose oil and stir well. Depending on how strong your oil is, you may have to add a bit more to get the scent you prefer.

Stir in rosebuds or petals, then transfer to mini milk bottles or jars.

Screw the lids on tightly, then add a pretty ribbon and label. You may also want to add instructions to the label. For example, “Add a generous handful to a running bath and stir well".
