Iconic children's TV show Sesame Street first screened on PBS in America on this day in 1969, teaching kids while they played and had fun. Here's the original version of Ernie's classic ode to bath-time toys, written by Jeff Moss, which debuted in a February 1970 episode and garnered fame well beyond Sesame Street. The catchy tune reached No. 16 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart and nearly won a Grammy, earning a 1971 nomination for Best Recording for Children. (It lost out to The Sesame Street Book & Record, which itself contained the song). For the young - and young at heart - everywhere!
