The World Press Photo Exhibition is currently on in Auckland showcasing the best in global photo journalism.
Over four and a half thousand photographers from around the world entered into the contest, from which just 42 were given prizes. One of these is National Geographic photographer, writer and film maker Ami Vitale.
Ami is a five-time winner of the world press photo contest as well as having been named International Photographer of the Year.
Ami’s career has taken her to over 90 countries around the world, she has lived in mud huts, dressed up as a panda(!) and worked in war zones all in the name of “living the story”.
Here she chats to Lorna about her work.
