Modern Family mourn the loss of the second cast member this year

The end of the run for Modern Family also marks the end of the road for one of the show’s beloved stars.

Just days after the cast finished taping the final episode of the ABC series, Beatrice, the French bulldog who played Jay Pritchett’s prized pooch Stella, has died. It’s currently unclear what led to Beatrice’s sudden death. The French bulldog was 9 years of age.

Modern Family's co-creator Steve Levitan said “While she was occasionally a major diva who made unreasonable demands and often questioned her 'motivation,' most of the time Beatrice was a delightful and lovable presence on the 'Modern Family' set. She brought smiles wherever she went and was completely convincing in her role as a dog. We will all miss that adorable scrunched-up face. Enjoy doggie heaven, sweet Beatrice/Stella.”

Earlier this year, Marsha Kramer (who played Jay's assistant Margaret) also passed away. She was 74.
