It’s official: We’re living in the age of shameless self-photography. Depending on the age group, ‘Selfies’ now make up around 30% of all photos taken. Experts offer these tips on how to do it best …
Â
• Look Straight At the Camera – There’s no such thing as a candid selfie - No one is going to believe you didn't know you were taking a picture of yourself
Â
• Step Outside – The lighting’s better and the background’s more interesting. Leave mirror shots where they belong … in the past on MySpace.
Â
• Use Natural Light – Mid-morning or late afternoon sun is a photographer’s best friend. Trying to angle your desk lamp or use your camera’s flash will leave you looking jaundiced.
Â
• Lower Your Arm – Relax your arm, and hold your smartphone about a foot away from your face. No need for your biceps to make a cameo in the shot.
Â
• Try to Appear Natural – No one wants to relive their high school yearbook picture, so skip the tilted head and forced smile. You want to look relaxed and happy.
Â
• Say No to Filters – Your pic is the first thing someone looks at on a social media site, whether dating or professional. An edited photo is easy to spot.
