✓ A new website called Wikipedia launched. Today it has over 40 million articles.

✓ The first chapter of Peter Jackson’s “The Lord Of the Rings” film trilogy was released.

✓ Britney Spears made history at the VMAs by singing with a giant snake wrapped around her neck like a boa (literally).

✓ We were introduced to the doctors & nurses of Sacred Heart Hospital on ABC-TV’s “Scrubs”.

✓ Russell Crowe won an Oscar for his role in “Gladiator”, the ‘Best Picture’ in 2001.

✓ Jennifer Lopez became the 1st woman to simultaneously top the album chart (“J-Lo”) and the movie box office (“The Wedding Planner”).
