Jason "JT" Tikao chats with Ruby Tui about her new children's book

JT caught up with Ruby Tui to talk about her new children's book 'Little Ruby and Friends' which is releasing on Tuesday, October 10!

She's an Olympic gold medallist, a Women's Rugby World Cup champ, and now for the second time, an author.

After publishing her brilliant memoir 'Straight Up' last year which became the bestselling book in New Zealand for 2022, Ruby's brilliant rugby skills and amazing personality won the hearts of New Zealanders, young and old. 

'Little Ruby and Friends' is aimed at children 4-7 and covers topics like friendship, teamwork, feelings, and the belief that everyone is different and special. 

"Basically, it's just me and all my real-life friends. So everybody in the book has real-life characters out of my life, the illustrator is one of my childhood friends as well."

"And we just got together and we all talked about what mental health strategies we use to feel better. And so it's just going through all the different ways that you look upset, and then all the different ways to help somebody feel better."
