Cheers to the winners of the 2024 Outstanding NZ Food Producer Awards!
The judges had a tough task deciding the winners this year, with 355 entries from 122 Kiwi food and drink producers and an outstandingly high quality of entries.
The medal tally was 137 gold, 76 silver and 48 bronze, across various categories including paddock, free-from, earth, dairy and a new dedicated chocolate category, after merging the NZ Chocolate Awards into the Outstanding Food Producer Awards.
Last night the 17 Champion Awards were announced, hosted by our own Lorna Riley, with Christchurch-based Mind Your Temper's plant-based Black Forest Bonbon taking out the top spot and being crowned Supreme Champion.

The judges said that the Black Forest Bonbon had "perfect gloss and shine. Outstanding developed flavour" and it was simply "Faultless." In addition to the title of Supreme Champion, it was also deemed Bonbon Champion.
Two of the awards were chosen by public vote, with Lindsay Farm Dairy being named Coast Kiwis’ Favourite Food Producer for the second time. The Hawke’s Bay-certified Bio Grow organic farm sells all of its milk directly to consumers. They also won two gold medals in this year’s Awards.
For the first time, the Coast's Kiwis’ Favourite Farmers’ Market was Hawke's Bay Farmers’ Market. Hawke's Bay Farmers’ Market is open every Sunday from 8.30am – 12.30pm - a must-visit!
Other Champion winners include Charlie's Gelato, Matangi Angus Beef, Six Barrel Soda, Wild Child Ferments, Akaroa King Salmon, Opito Bay Salt and many more. You can check out the full list at outstandingfoodproducer.co.nz.
So next time you're browsing the shelves, look out for Kiwi-made winning products wearing Champion, Gold, Silver and Bronze Outstanding NZ Food Producer Awards medals – a promise of produce made in New Zealand, which tastes outstanding!
