American mum gets slammed for calling her newborn son Coast

We all know some baby names can be unusual ...

But one new American mum has been slammed for calling her son Coast - and we don't see what's wrong with it.

In a video posted to TikTok, Calyn Breann opened up about how people tell her they hate her son's unique moniker, as they believe it won't "age well."

But while the name Coast is raising eyebrows, the Californian mum has insisted "I’m not changing it."

In the six-second video, which has since gone viral, Breann holds baby Coast under a note that reads: "You should have named him something different, his name won’t age well."

"I love my baby coast!!!!" she captioned the post.

Though Breann noted her infant's unusual name has drawn negative comments, several commenters praised it.

"Coast is so adorable, and it fits him so well!" one user enthused.

"I like that name. Nothing wrong with it. There’s a lot worse," agreed a second.

"Name your baby what you want," another recommended. "Don’t worry about what others say."

Coast was the 3,225th most popular baby boy name last year, according to Baby Center data.

It has been rising in popularity since 2018 among the site's users.
