McDonald's has just released its Christmas advert and it is a total tearjerker!

The short film, titled Imaginary Iggy, follows a young girl and her imaginary friend.

Matilda bonds with her pal Iggy during Christmas while growing up, but over the years, as she gets older, she loses interest in having an imaginary friend and starts to leave him behind.

However, a memory of Christmas joy helps her remember Iggy and she returns to spend Christmas with him.

It's a heartwarming tale that has left millions of people across the world drying their eyes after watching the advert.

The advert is set to a beautiful cover of Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time', recorded by pop star Mabel.
