It was a collaboration we never imagined would happen, but the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, joined forces with the flamboyant Sir Elton John for a truly beautiful new song.

And now the duo have released the official music video for the record.

Titled 'Ordinary Man', the track is very different from the usual rocky nature of Ozzy's work, with the two music legends creating an uplifting piece featuring warm piano notes by Elton.

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith - who also worked on the song - revealed he was "pinching" himself in the studio while listening to the song.

"It's f****** epic, these two iconic, legendary, English rockers that have been through it all are singing about the end of their lives: 'I don't want to die an ordinary man.' And it's f****** great!" he said.

Discussing the collaboration with the legendary pianist, Smith said" "We wanted it to be the right people. We didn't want to just throw in names for names.

"'OK, who’s a really good piano player? Let's get the Rocket Man!' And Elton was so great, so gracious.

"He said, 'I'll do anything for Ozzy. I love Ozzy.' So Andrew and I went down to Atlanta, where Elton John lives when he's on the East Coast. And we recorded him, and he played the piano on this song, and he plays it beautifully, of course," Smith continued.

'Ordinary Man' will feature on Ozzy's new album of the same name - which highly-anticipated as the star has not released a solo studio album since Scream in 2010.
