Everyone’s favourite marmalade-loving British bear is returning to our screens for a new adventure - this time in Peru!

The first trailer for 'Paddington in Peru.' has just been released and it's as action - and marmalade-packed - as the previous two films.

This time, Paddington sets off to South America to pay a visit to Aunt Lucy, accompanied by the Brown family. However, upon arrival, he’s told by a guitar-playing nun (Olivia Coleman) who runs the Home For Retired Bears that Lucy is missing in action on a scientific mission.

What follows is a thrilling adventure as mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and up to the mountain peaks of Peru.

"The first film gave us a bit of information about where Paddington came from and how he found his home in London, and in then the second story he almost loses that home but in doing he consolidates his community in London and we also find out a little bit more about Paddington’s origins and how he was rescued," director Dougal Wilson said at the trailer launch.

"So there’s a lot of missing information about what happens before that and we thought for the third film it would be very appropriate for him to return to Peru, but this time taking his London friends and community with him and have an adventure there and, in doing so, fill in some of the missing pieces."

Paddington In Peru will be released in NZ cinemas on January 1, 2025.

The first two Paddington movies made more than $500m at the global box office and both received rave reviews globally.
