The Chase fans have been left fuming after contestants were "robbed" of £52,000 on a recent episode of the game show.

Facing off against chaser Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, Charlie, Catherine, Heidi and Antony were just one question away from winning the cash prize.

Bradley Walsh, asked: "Leap of Faith is a memoir by which Italian jockey?"

To which Charlie answered: "Franco Dettori."

But in a devastating twist, the much-loved host did not accept the answer as the famous jockey is more well-known by the name Frankie, not Franco.

Viewers took to social media to complain that Charlie's answer should have been accepted.

One fan said: "Absolutely robbed by the Dettori question".

While another commented: "Someone please tell me why 'Franco Dettori' wasn't allowed when that is genuinely his name (Lanfranco) robbed of 52k".

Even The Beast himself tweeted, saying: "Well, given there was literally one point in it and the answer Franco wasn't permitted for Lanfranco Detorri; given it is actually the guy's real name, not Frankie. I'm pretty certain the team did actually win today.. even if they didn’t take home the £52k."

Brutal!
