"We have to learn about each other to get to know each other."

Universal has released another behind-the-scenes video for the highly-anticipated musical adaptation, Wicked, which will be released only three months from now.

This featurette, titled The Powerful Bond of Friendship, showcases the friendship between the two lead characters and the actresses portraying them - Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba Thropp and Ariana Grande as Glinda.

In the video we see the pair discuss the Broadway show, which director Jon M. Chu describes as a story of “friendship.”

We also hear Ariana reflecting on her role as Glinda and her relationship with her roommate, Elphaba, saying, “These two very different women just fall completely in love with each other…and that mirrored the experience of what happened with Cynthia and me.”

Cynthia added, “We just sort of — I just got chills — we both just found each other, I guess. We just got each other immediately.”

While Wicked was initially expected to be one movie, director Jon M. Chu shared in 2022 that it was split into two after it became "clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of 'Wicked' into a single film without doing some real damage to it."

“Are people born wicked, or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?” We'll find out when Wicked: Part One is released on November 28, 2024.

Part Two is set for release in November 2025.
