Christmas is a time of giving, and that's exactly what a group of UK firefighters are hoping to achieve.

The group of 43 fire service personnel from all around the UK have banded together with the hopes of achieving a Christmas number one while raising as much money as possible for the Firefighters Charity and the Band Aid Charity Trust.

Putting their very own spin on the 1984 hit song 'Do They Know it's Christmas', the firefighters - who have called themselves The Fire Tones - came up with the idea for their own charity single at the pub.

BIMM studios in Birmingham donated a day of recording to the project, and The Fire Tones recorded the entire song in just 24 hours.

And it seems even Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure - who originally wrote the song - are impressed with their cover, sending the firefighters letters of support.
