The adorable moment TVNZ's John Campbell fanboys over All Black TJ Perenara after surprise visit

TVNZ Breakfast host John Campbell couldn't contain his excitement after getting the surprise of his life off-air during this morning's show.

All Black halfback - and now soon-to-be-dad - TJ Perenara popped into the studio this morning to visit the veteran broadcaster and now footage of the priceless behind-the-scenes moment has been released.

Filmed with a massive grin on his face while in utter disbelief, John could be heard saying: "What the f***?"

After briefly discussing the news Perenara and his wife Greer are expecting their first child in August, Campbell asked the rugby star why he was in Auckland.

"I've come to see you! It genuinely is, I've come to see you," Perenara responded.

"You've been awesome for me, you've been a massive supporter of me and Greer as well so I wanted to come in and share the love."

Perenara announced the exciting news he's going to be a father last night on Instagram.

Alongside a photo of the couple's beloved labrador Roni, he wrote: "Our little whānau is expanding ... We are so happy to announce our pēpi will be arriving Aug 2020."

The pair have been together for 10 years, after meeting at a Halloween party.

They were married in January last year, pulling off a surprise backyard wedding in Porirua. Their guests thought they were arriving for an engagement party.
